Links 2 Jan: Apple's iPhone 6 And iOS7 Already Turning up

Simply to provide us all having a fun rumour or two for that New Year were seeing signs (at least it's being reported that signs are being seen) that testing of the next Apple phone (the iPhone 6? 5S?) and iOS 7 are going on. The evidence is log activity that may be traced back to IP addresses at Cupertino:

Currently under development, traces of Apples new iPhone and iOS software have started surfacing in app usage logs. Developers have contacted The Next Web to share references to a different iPhone identifier and subsequently big operating-system update for the smartphone and tablet devices: iOS 7.

One developer demonstrated that Apple continues to be testing hardware relating to a brand new iPhone6,1 identifier, powered by a tool running iOS 7, which is likely to launch by Apple in the centre thing about this year.

Apples current flagship, the iPhone 5, bears the identifiers iPhone5,1 and iPhone 5,2 depending on the LTE type of the handset and the 4G bands which it operates.

What this allows us to do of course is to go off into paroxysms of speculation as to what may be on the new systems. A mapping system that works for instance?

The references towards the new iPhone and iOS 7 did not reveal any clues about new hardware or software features. Are Apples engineers rushing to get a big iOS 7 update earlier than were expecting? You never know. But because the first version of iOS with Jony Ives fingerprints throughout it, we cant wait until Apple allows us to get our greasy hands all over it.

Not sure about that: Jony might insist that its all in shiny aluminium. Not every that useful for an OS.

Development logs have always been in which the first glimpse of a new Apple product appears, making this not at all unusual. What's out of the ordinary, however, is they usually show up fairly close to a launch window. While there there are several rumors of the mid-year launch for that iPhone 5S, our guess is that this is more about testing iOS 7 before a developers seed is released iphone 5 charger case.

To take a position even further, Apple might be speeding up their OS releases. Simply to reveal that having fired Forstall they are able to still do it.

What can iPhone owners anticipate if the iOS7 rumors grow to be true? Again, nothing official from Apple, but there are wish lists upon wish lists available already. The common thread among them is much better app management, including customized default apps for basics like emails and calendars and cosmetic changes like hiding apps you never use or creating better, bolder icons.

And also to bring a little reality to the discussion:

Is Apple testing the iPhone 6? Obviously. Just like Samsung is testing the Samsung galaxy s IV, LG is testing the OptimusH?, HTC is testing the 2 X, and so forth.

Quite: that Apple wasn't developing generation x of phone and operating-system would be news. That it's is, well, the opposite of recent, or olds as Sir Pterry has place it. Still fun to take a position obviously.
